What to Do in Agadir in 3 Days with a Rental Car: The Perfect Itinerary
3 Days in Agadir with a Rental Car: Full Programme
A 3-day stay in Agadir with a rental car lets you discover far more than the beach and marina. You'll have time to explore the city, its immediate surroundings and venture into the wider region with complete freedom. Here is our day-by-day programme for an unforgettable trip.
---
Day 1 — Agadir: The City in Full
Morning: Exploring the City
Start with Agadir Oufella, the ruins of old Agadir destroyed by the 1960 earthquake. Perched on a hill just a few minutes' drive from the centre, they offer an exceptional panoramic view over the bay and modern city. Access by car is straightforward, with a car park at the top.
Next, head to Souk El Had, Agadir's largest covered market. Spices, fresh produce, Moroccan crafts, olives — it's a total immersion in local culture. Parking is available nearby.
Afternoon: Valley of the Birds and the Marina
Park near the seafront and explore on foot. Stop at the Valley of the Birds, a botanical and zoological garden right in the heart of Agadir — free entry and well worth a visit.
Round off the afternoon at Agadir Marina for a coffee or drink overlooking the Atlantic, with views of the boats and the setting sun.
Evening: Fresh Fish at the Port
The fishing port hosts a row of popular restaurants serving freshly grilled fish at very reasonable prices. An absolute must.

Day 2 — Day Trip to Taroudant and the Argan Forest
The Little Marrakech, 1 Hour Away
Get up early and drive towards Taroudant (80 km, 1 hour via the N10). On the way, you'll cross the argan tree forest — stop at a women's argan oil cooperative for a demonstration and the chance to buy the real thing.
Inside the Taroudant Medina
Park outside the walls and explore the medina on foot. Browse the souks (jewellery, spices, leather, pottery), walk the ramparts for sweeping views, and enjoy a local lunch in a traditional guesthouse.
Tip: allow 2 to 3 hours to explore the medina at a relaxed pace.
Return via the Scenic Back Roads
On the way back, wind through small Berber villages between Taroudant and Agadir. The return route via the north bank of the Souss river is particularly scenic.
---
Day 3 — The Atlantic Coast: Beaches and Surf
Morning: Taghazout and the Surf Scene
Take the coastal road north towards Taghazout (20 minutes). Even if you don't surf, the atmosphere of this converted fishing village is unique. Have a coffee overlooking the waves, watch the surf sessions from the headland.
Continue to Tamraght for a swim at a calmer, family-friendly beach. A great spot for a grilled fish lunch.
Afternoon: Immouzer Waterfalls (Mountain Option)
If you've rented a suitable vehicle and enjoy mountain scenery, make a detour to Immouzer des Ida Outanane (1 hour from Taghazout). The waterfalls and palm grove are magnificent, especially in winter and spring.
Alternatively, push further north to Imsouane (1 hour from Taghazout) for a picturesque bay and legendary surf waves.
Evening: Back to Agadir Beach
Return to Agadir for a final evening by the sea. The beachfront promenade is perfect for a sunset stroll before dinner at one of the many seafront restaurants.

Tips for Planning Your 3-Day Stay
When to book your rental car? In high season (July–August, school holidays), book at least 2 weeks in advance. In low season, a few days' notice is sufficient.
Which vehicle to choose? For this mixed programme (city + excursions), a comfortable saloon (Dacia Logan, Renault Symbol) or compact car is more than adequate. If you plan to explore secondary tracks, an SUV is preferable.
Average budget for 3 days:
| Item | Estimate | |---|---| | Car rental (3 days) | 600 to 1,200 MAD | | Fuel | 150 to 300 MAD | | Lunch x3 | 200 to 400 MAD | | Entry fees & activities | 100 to 200 MAD | | Approximate total | 1,050 to 2,100 MAD |
